The new office of the European Union Delegation opens in Tashkent

TASHKENT, October 29. /“Dunyo” IA/. Yesterday, at the opening ceremony of the office of the EU Delegation in Tashkent, President of the European Council Charles Michel noted the fruitfulness and constructiveness of the talks with the President of Uzbekistan. He highly appreciated the role of President Shavkat Mirziyoyev in the implementation of political and economic reforms, ensuring their irreversibility, reports “Dunyo” IA correspondent.

According to Charles Michel, the firm political will of the President of Uzbekistan in continuing the transformation deserves special respect. Uzbekistan has achieved great results in terms of openness of the economy, respecting human rights and deepening democracy.

The President of the European Council noted that thanks to the efforts of the President, Uzbekistan has acquired a new face, has become a more attractive and key partner of the EU in the region. Concrete agreements were reached on the development of cooperation and the soonest signing of an Enhanced Partnership and Cooperation Agreement.

The President of the European Council noted that during the talks, issues of a peaceful settlement of the situation in Afghanistan and the negative impact of the war in Ukraine were also discussed.

Charles Michel stated that the EU Delegation in Tashkent should play an important role in strengthening bilateral cooperation and implementing the agreements.
